Spookfontein is a place made with passion, hard work and dedication. To tell you about us, we have to tell you about the hands that make this place great.
We have to start with the owner, Mike Davis who in his lifetime has acquired and founded successful ventures. Mike purchased Spookfontein so his family could have a wholesome alternative for weekend break-aways.
Then again, we have to talk about the hands making our wine, winemaker, Hannes Storm who lovingly shape our wine. We also have to mention the architect of our phenomenal cellar, DJ Carr. The building, constructed from natural materials nestles comfortably at the foot of the mountain - overlooking the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde valley. Curved and carefully designed, the cellar does not intrude on nature but embraces it. Large windows offer visitors a fantastic wine tasting experience while enjoying amazing views of vineyard, mountain and farm-life.
Visitors can take pleasure in the exciting cooking style from Chef Charl. Food is beautifully prepared and carefully chosen for its ethical character. Wine tasters can enjoy a delish meal overlooking jaw-dropping vistas. Those that want to stay longer can book into one of our lovely cottages.
Then there are the farm workers: A dedicated team who harvests & nurtures our vineyards. There are a lot of hands involved, including the amazing support we have received from travellers and locals since our cellar opened in December 2013.
Spookfontein is about people, from all walks of life, sharing a commonplace in fine wines & good taste.
